THE TASTING ROOM GALLERY

We've been honored in having a wonderful exhibit of photography and paintings showing in the tasting room gallery . The work is truly extraordinary.

"Springtime in Portugal" an exhibit of photography by Jack McConnell

The exhibit is up from June 26 to September 15.

A trip to Portugal produced many opportunities for Jack McConnell to photograph people in their work environments, fishing, farming and selling their wares in small village markets. It was early spring and everyone seemed happy to be outdoors.

This three-week trip to Portugal was made in March and April, l985. Jack and his wife Paula rented a car with friends Al and Joyce Perry from Higganum, and set about the countryside. Al was a painter, Joyce was a fiber artist, and Paula wrote poems and short stories.

Artist Statement by Jack McConnell ,
www.mcconnellpix.com
Thirty-five years of looking, listening, absorbing, shooting—
one thing at a time. Of quieting down, being still, finding one
detail, one design, one face among many. In the course of all
this shooting, frames of film gravitate toward other frames
of film. Compositions share a spark of familiarity, and
themes begin to emerge.
