Fall 2011
Now Enjoy the Wine Patio in All Seasons
Now you can enjoy the sun and beautiful views of the vineyard all seasons on the wine patio. It's now enclosed and heated for the chilly weather approaching. So cozy up with a picnic and your favorite Priam Vineyards wines and take in the view! Special thanks to Andy's Trim Shop, New London for doing such a beautiful job!
Fresh Honey Direct From the Vineyard
Now you can enjoy raw, unpasturized honey drectly from our bee hives.
We robbed the hives during harvest, and in spite of a few stings, it was so worth it! Our very happy bees feed on the acres of clover and wild flowers throughout the vineyard, to make honey that is so rich in flavor, simply delicious!
Great as a holiday gift!
Around and About the Vineyards, Amazing Local Mushrooms
This past few weeks we've noticed the most amazing wild mushrooms in the forest areas around the vineyard. This steamy weather has them popping up all over. A local mycologist came in to examine (don't try this on your own) and found that quite a few of them are very desirable for consumption.
There are many deadly ones out there,
but luckily the mushrooms found here are Mataki, the best tasting fungi we have ever tasted, and has tremendous health benefits. The large one photographed above is Hen of the woods (Mataki). Asia has been using this mushroom for cooking and in medicine for thousands of years. The smaller ones pictured below are lepiota americana babies and mature to taste a lot like steak tips. The mushrooms are huge 12" or more in diameter, and amazingly beautiful. We are presently selling to local restaurants such as Kensingtons at the Norwich Inn & Spa and Cavey's. Stop by Cavey's or Kensington's and ask for dishes prepared with them.
